I really wish I could just sit down and say, this is how this is done….. but it isnt that simple…there is a TON going on here, and every time I do it, I use different tools and means to get there, I am still working it out myself, though I will say when I photoshop to this new look, it takes a SERIOUS amount of time and essentially EVERYTHING I know about the program. I will say it is a single exposure. I need to come up with a new name for this type of look because “Painted Portraits” is something completely different. I already have a “Michael Andrew Shot”…so any suggestions?
Had a fun shoot tonight for the Photoshop DVD. Got exactly what I needed and more!
Looks great! as far as the name for the type of look, I’d go simple… maybe a "brushed" look….
I think the picture kinda looks like those Norman Rockwell paintings…maybe I’m crazy, but I think it has kinda the same effect those have…
I think you should name it the OBT style. Outside box thinking!
I think "grunge brush" – it’s got a grunge look to it, in a painter kind of way!
Great Blog Michael, and thanks for the update info on the 5D – VIDEO !!! That’s an add on for the WISH LIST!
Heavy, dirty grunge sounds good to me
Dark outlook
Love that look! I’d go for the name "The Oilrig Treatment." You know, Michael, you’re dangerously close to zombie territory here. I’m just saying… http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj152/sroeben/michael.gif
Nice, semi real, semi virtual, a bit like HDR. What about "VRHP" (Virtual Reality Hdr Portrait? 😀
These are all great suggestions! Please keep them coming!
My second suggestion would be "Forged" like forged from steel.
Ok last one… Midnight Oil. Have a great weekend everyone 🙂
Ya, I think Shawn’s got it with Midnight Oil – that fits!
This style really emphasizes the facial features. I would love to see it on a older person with a lot of wrinkles or a "weather beaten" face.
I would suggest a name like
"Chisel Toned Effect"
