Stillwater

A lot of mixed thoughts about this one.

Suffice it to say its not about what it is advertised to be about a thriller (ie a man trying to solve a murder around his daughter’s case).

This is a character film contrasting the beauty, flaws, strengths and weaknesses of the human condition. It explores cored values and when one will compromise their standards.

Really good acting.

But, again, NOT a murder mystery or crime thriller.

If you are into character films, you will love it. If you are not, skip it.

Snake Eyes

As a die hard lover of GI Joe growing up (including collecting the comics), this is a modernization of Snake Eyes Origin Story (which by the way was a HUGE departure from the original comic book story). Decent, not great, but not too bad either. I would say its a definite rental, see it in theaters if you were a fan of it growing up like me.

OLD

Its good to be back in the USA. Ive been decompressing and getting caught up on so many loose ends, but have had time for movies…

I have a love-hate relationship with M. Night Shyamalan. Dont get me wrong, he is one of the best, incredibly talented, and some of his films are among my favorites (Unbreakable, 6th Sense, Signs) and others, not so much (the Village- I thought he broke the audiences trust with that one) but suffice it to say, I will likely try just about anything he is involved in.

OLD is classic M Night, and while the premise is simple, its twist ending is just perfect. I know many are complaining about it, but I actually enjoyed it. Its a home-run rental, but if you are a fan of M Night, I dont think you will be disappointed.
