Every year National Geographic holds their photography contest. This year the winner won $10,000 and a photography seminar at the National Geographic Headquarters. The three categories are people, places, and nature. This year grand prize winner was Brian Yen of Hong Kong where he beat out over 9,000 entrants for the top prize.

I’m sure it’s not the first time any of us has considered the fact that carrying around a load of gear and obviously shooting a wedding or other subject makes us a target for theft. That’s exactly what happened to a photographer and videographer in Oakland, CA. While shooting a wedding were held at gunpoint and robbed of all of their gear. The photographer had insurance but the videographer did not. Sadly, all footage and images from the wedding were stolen.
