Life-Proof – Waterproof iPhone / iPad Cases

Straight up the very BEST gadget idea I’ve seen submitted on my facebook feed. My Dad and I have been wanting these for a while now but no one has come out with a sleek solution. (Ive seen other attempts, but they were bulky or not cool looking at all).

This will waterproof (down to 6 feet) and shock proof (also from 6 Feet) your favorite apple device (iPhone/iPad).

Want to listen to music or take pictures while surfing? No Problem.
Want to get killer underwater pics in your swimming pool? No Problem
Want to bring your iPad to the beach, a rainy back trail? No Problem

They are saying you can wash it with the dishes.

They also have a number of cool little accessories including waterproof headphones.

The Adventures of Tin Tin

Grew up with several Adventures of Tin Tin books and this brought back many memories.

The animation was straight up the best I’ve seen…ever. Simply amazing artwork. Pretty solid story and good adventure for the whole family. A tiny, slow at times but otherwise very good movie.

The Darkest Hour

The Darkest Hour had the potential to be a home run blockbuster. The first 4/5’s of the movie was intriguing, gritty, exciting and almost felt like a horror movie. It had vibes of Predator, Red Dawn, Independence Day and I Am Legend all wrapped into one. I loved the whole studying and adapting according to your enemy lesson taught. Its also refreshing to see a story so uncommitted to each of the main characters (cant really say more without giving it away).

The problem was that the ending fizzled- with a stronger finale it would have been a very, very good movie. Instead it felt like they ran out of money or something and the acting/lines got really weak & cheesy. If you see it you will see what I mean.

An absolute rental and solid choice in theaters if you enjoy any of the movies mentioned above.

Merry Christmas!

Just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and say thank you so much for all of you support. I really, truly and deeply appreciate it. WIthout the support of my students and customers I would not be living the wonderful life that I am. I feel spectacularly lucky to be able to live on Maui doing exactly what I want with my life. I feel very, very fortunate and never want to take that, giving thanks and gratitude for granted.

I usually tell all of my friends and family members to not even think about getting me anything for Christmas. I as long as I am healthy, I am happy- but I also still tend to get asked by at least 100 friends and photographers what I got this year in terms of gear. I understand this phenomena because I always love to hear when they finally get that 5DII or lens they have been wanting.

-My Brother and Nephew got me a divers knife, just in case I get tangled again in an anchor line 20 feet down. Thats a story I haven’t shared yet.
-Mark Foresters parents, Pat and Ray got me an Alabama Trent Richardson #3 jersey. You can better believe I will be wearing it on the 9th of Jan!

Camera wise:
– Santa brought me a Canon 2x III Extender (I would always borrow my Dad’s vII, and liked it so much I knew I wanted one). While I have always made do with the Kenko 2x extenders, Im a huge fan of the image quality I get out of Canons 2x’s. Just a touch sharper and cleaner.

– Santa also brought me a Canon 14mm 2.8 II Ultra Wide Angle, a lens I have wanted and needed for my business going on 3 years now…finally! This is not a lens I would recommend to casual shooters. The 14mm 2.8 is a very, very unusual lens and I will be doing some tests and posting some reviews about it, as well as how it compares to other wide angle lenses.

What camera gear did you guys get for Christmas? I would love to hear!

Today is a FANTASTIC day for movies! Check out any of the following if you are feeling the Christmas movie itch:

– The Darkest Hour –
– The Adventures of Tin Tin –
– War Horse –
Im also hearing the “The Dependents” is pretty good too.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day with their families!

New Blog Features – Part 1

Many of you will notice a few tweaky things going on the blog in the next few days. My blog designer, Brock Martin and I have discussed several little features that will make interacting and finding information or products much, much easier. 2 of the features are already in place, and you can probably see some of the others that are coming:The first AWESOME feature is how we have rearranged the “categories” function. Instead of pulling up the actual articles, it will allow you to access all articles under than category by a “list” view. This should make it much, much easier to pick and choose which articles and posts you would like to read- much easier than sifting through dozens of articles.Second new feature is the “Products” page where the “Store” button used to be. The old store link can be found under “links”, but I felt that the product page would be better now as I have many different types of products that can only be purchased on different websites. For example, if a customer wants a training video, he/she may want a DVD or a download. Before, there were 2 different places to find these products, and this new set up should simplify things. The next feature coming will be “Galleries”. There is nothing really there yet, but I am working to have different sets of images which viewers can browse through easily.

More coming soon!
