Chick-Fil-A is one of my favorite fast food restaurants, despite the fact that it was my first job when I was 13 years old in California (I was the sample dude who gave out free chicken to mall goers). Here are a few things I bet you didnt know about them:
1. They accept all of their coupons after they have expired. One of the managers I spoke with about this referred to it as “food service ministries”, meaning the company believes in offering service through free food.
2. They REALLY did invent the chicken sandwich.
3. Their lemonade is squeezed by hand in house. The ingredients are: lemon juice, water and sugar.
4. They are all closed on Sundays. Truett Cathy, the founder said :”If it takes 7 days to run a restaurant, then we are in the wrong business.”
5. When a new Chick-Fil-A opens, the first 100 customers through the doors will receive coupons for 1 meal a week for a year. This is called the “First 100” campaign. They have done this since 2003.
6. They cook their fries and chicken in pure peanut, oil…..always have
7. Many Chick-Fil-A’s (but not all) will accept competitors coupons as well and offer the equivalent.
8. The cows they use to promote their Chicken are actually dairy cows…. isnt it ironic that they now offer some of the very best Milk Shakes in town?
9. If you have any kind of non-profit promotional event and you ask a Chick-Fil-A to donate, chances are you will either get a discount or free chicken depending on the event and the manager. When I used to teach at the University I would ask a local manager here to sponsor my class and he would give me these huge stacks of coupons for free Chick-Fil-A sandwiches. I would give them to students when they answered difficult questions in class. 🙂
I love Chick-Fil-A.
I love that they are only open 6 days a week. I love that they give that day to their employees to spend with their families, or thats what the sign says inside.
Mike, I had to laugh, we were playing Cranium Turbo last night and one of the literary words that a team had to define was ‘maven’… I totally knew the answer! Your blog teaches on so many levels!
I tired Chick-Fil-A for the 1st time in Dallas last year. Very tasty!
Too bad there aren’t any in Michigan (that I know of)
Whoops! I just checked and there’s one near me! I know what I’m having for lunch on Monday!
I absolutely LOVE Chick-Fil-A! Love their waffle fries, love the chicken, the milk shakes are incredible and come with whipped cream and a cherry on top! What’s not to love? 🙂
oh ya…ask for the honey BBQ mustard for your sandwiches…it normally only comes with the deluxe sandwich, but it is the most mind blowing mustard I have ever tasted!!
I lOVE LOVE LOVE Chick-Fil-A. I have never tried their milkshakes-so I’ll definately have to try them!
my cousin owns the chick fil a in leeds. It’s a fantastic company to work for. Great employee rewards, and Chick Fil A has paid for them to go on vacations to nearly every continent. I’ve also noticed that customer service reigns supreme at chick fil a. Not like most other fast food joints, and the waffle fries are just the best.
be careful of the milkshakes- they are amazingly fantastic, amazingly addictive, and amazingly fattening (I think like 40+ grams of saturated fat). I wonder if there is something like crack in them.
The very first Chick Fil A is located in Hapeville Ga. (it’s been eaten up by greater Atlanta). But we used to eat there when we were first married. long ago.. and it’s still a great place to go. I suggest the next time you have a layover in Atlanta to check it out. Great photo ops there because of the RR. and airport. Linda Shaw Summerville S.C.
