Tamron 18-270 f/3.5-6.3mm AF (Nikon Mount – DX)
This is my recommended lens choice for photographers just starting out. For the money this lens is a very good quality. It will also give you a range of focal lengths that are ideal for most shooting situations. Keep in mind, it is a DX lens, meaning it is made for crop sensors. FX bodies can use it in DX mode, but you lose a lot of resolution.

Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8
Widely regarded as the greatest wide angle zoom of all time, it is well known many Canon users seek out and exploit the advantages of this lens through adapters. I am not aware of a better wide angle with corner to edge sharpness.

Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8
This is a great lens for weddings, portraits, and even street photography. This mid-range of focal lengths is ideal for the many common photographic needs. This is a great performing lens and sometimes all you need in your bag to cover you needs. If you are an FX shooter (full frame), it should probably be your first choice.

Nikon 50mm f/1.4 AF
Prime lenses are a top choice for professional photographers. The 50mm 1.4 is known for it’s unsurpassed sharpness. It’s fast aperture will get you great shots in low light. Many professional photographers have built their careers with just this lens. If you have the money, it’s a “must have”.
