Macros seem to always cover a grey area between abstracts, true macros, and animals. At least 2 dozen of this years Macro entries were moved into Abstract Nominees, so if you don't see your image here, it is quite possible it was moved because it fit that category better.

Main things I was looking for here:

1. Image Sharpness- Very difficult to do with good macro
2. Originality - Each year we are flooded with flower shots, which are ok, but if it is a flower shot, it better be amazing.
3. Compositional Elements.

We had nearly 500 entries in this category and I had to be really, really nit picky to get it around 130 nominees. There were many, many very good images that did not make it in this top 25%. If yours did not make it, please do not be discouraged and try to learn from the ones that did. Enjoy!
