Early this morning we hiked out to a semi-secret snorkeling site called “The Fish Bowl” or “The Aquarium” out in the lava fields past Makena. Ive been here a couple times, but the path entrance has been hidden and it was very difficult to find. In any case, we found it and although it doesnt look like much on the outside, it is PACKED with fish- like you wouldnt believe. By far the best snorkeling spot I have EVER seen. Then we spent the rest of the day at Big Beach just hanging out. It was a great day. Sadly, Mike went home today- I will spend the next three days buckling down on some business.

Michael do you have an underwater case for the 40 D. The fish shot is amazing!
Once again….incredible photos Michael! I hate to think that there are so many dishonest people out there but I know in reality there are. You have a an amazing talent from God and I hope that these type of people don’t hinder you from teaching or doing what the Lord has given you. You are a blessing to all of you who learn from you each and every day.
I love the first picture from yesterday and the foam on the sand pic from today. Amazing Amazing!
I have an older Canon s500 digital Elph complete with water proof housing (expensive) Ive used for scuba diving. It comes in real handy for water based shots, although it is very slow….I push the shutter and the picture is taken like 2 seconds later, so some of these shots were very tricky. This is also how I got the surf board shot. 🙂
Cool Stuff ! I heard that the case for the 40 D is almost $2000.00. I can’t believe its more than the camera it self!!
michael,
very good work. Hey, could you post the details of each picture (WB, Vivid, 5.4 at 70mm)?
this way we can learn from your shots and see the details on it.
Awesome photos! I just picked up a Canon 40D last weekend, and like many others I’m sure, I really have no choice but to start off in "dummy" mode. I came across your teaching site today and eventually your blog, and must say – I loved your teaching style. I just bought the Canon 40D crash course DVD and am anxiously looking forward to getting it and trying out all of the new stuff that i’ll be learning from you. Again, awesome photos – and thanks for taking the time to put all of this info together for numbskulls like myself who got a camera that is WAY more advanced than they are 🙂
Hi ben! So glad you found the Canon 40D DVD – I know it will really help. Thanks everyone for your kind words, I sincerely appreciate it.
Extremely impressed with your teaching videos Michael. I have been in professional photography for 18 years now, and am always looking for new things to learn and share with others. It is so refreshing to find someone wanting to teach – and teach really really well. After finding your teaching videos purley by accident recently I have passed your link on over and over to friends and family. I bought my Canon 40D about a month ago now, and been thrilled with the quality and great features – and after finding your site, I’m sure I made the right investment. Looking forward to BUYING your 40D DVD, I can’t see a better way to learn more! Thank you sooo much!
Hi Boz! Thank you so much for the very nice comment- I want you to know how much I appreciate you taking the time too write and encourage me, its really the best part of this- is knowing that what I am doing is helping out in some way. I love to teach photography and when I first started last year, I had 15 visits a MONTH on my school, so it is growing and getting better. I hope to have many more videos available soon, the process is much slower than I would like, but once finished, they are going to be around for a while so its worth it. I look forward to doing all I can to help out.
