Just finished my most recent Epic Shootout on the Sony A7s and the Panasonic GH4. Both of these cameras represent the cutting edge of mirrorless systems, and if you aren’t fully sure why they are awesome, you might want to check this video out…at least for the intro! 🙂

The Great Article on Equivalence

Please read it carefully, probably twice before making a comment or question about equivalence. There is some mis-information out there on the topic, I get a lot of comments about it, but there is a lot of misunderstanding- that article sets the record straight.

Excellent (and Free) DOF calculator for different format cameras.

The Opening Sequence was shot almost entirely with the Panasonic GH4, please support our sponsor B&H Photo who lent us some very expensive gear to get the 4K tests out of both cameras:

The Panasonic GH4 on B&H Photo

The Sony A7s on B&H Photo

Very warm THANK YOUs to the following:

The Phoenix Zoo
Nicholas Pappagallo From PAC
– My Good Friend Brandon for his help with the Bow and Arrow Shooting and other support with certain reptiles (none were harmed in the shooting btw)

Production Notes:

Sony A7s 4K video was recorded to the Aja Ki Pro Quad Recorder, we used the same recorder for the 10-Bit GH4 4K video and were unsuccessful recording 10-Bit through the HDMI port.

Panasonic GH4 was a joy to use. The internal 4K recording and $800 less-in-price are really what made it stand out. Whatever magic is happening inside that little camera is special. The A7s takes more time to learn to navigate.
