great video, But I have a question: wouldn’t the exposure lock button pressed while focusing on the sky do the same thing? If not, try not to beat me up too badly, I’m still learning this stuff. 🙂
yes it would, in fact there are a number of ways to go about doing this, including shooting in manual from the get go. The reason I use the method I teach in this video is:
1. It teaches the beginners to use the cameras meter in their camera to find good exposure settings instead of shooting 5-6 test images in manual first.
2. While exposure lock works, most beginners dont even know what that is, and it’s easier to tweak the exposure settings if they need to, not quite as easy with exposure lock.
So this lesson is really geared for beginners who are just getting started with silhouettes and want an easy method to learn.
