As a side note, we did encounter a true Rattle Snake a few days earlier.
Unfortunately, the snake was wayyyy too close to the main road & path where we and even my friends kids (including a 3 year old) had access to and would be by shortly thereafter. I think this was a Mohave Rattler, one of the most lethal of all Rattle Snakes in the USA.
Apparently they have been proliferating on his property and causing problems with some of the cattle. My friend said we couldn’t allow it to hurt someone, so he quickly terminated it. Regrettable, but better safe than sorry.
He skinned it that night, in front of his children as a teaching moment…pretty neat experience & it was truly a gorgeous pattern, but its head just looked pure evil.
