Canon Camera Bodies

Canon EOS 90D
The 90D is a versatile APS-C DSLR with capable photo and video abilities but be warned the high-resolution 32.5MP sensor requires sharp lenses which has frustrated many users not aware of pixel density problems. That said it is the best APSC sensor I have seen.

Combined with advanced image processing, 90D is capable of outputting UHD 4K30p and Full HD 120p video, as well as supporting continuous stills shooting rates up to 10 fps.

Struggles with very erratic fast moving tracking (think birds in flight changing directions) great for linear motion. Its not a 7Dii replacement, but better in most every other way than the erratic motion and only having 1 card slot. Its a winner in my book.

Canon EOS Rebel T8i
Designed for first-time shooters, but capable enough for advanced imaging tasks, the Canon EOS Rebel T8i is a versatile DSLR with well-rounded photo and video capabilities. Featuring a 24.1MP APS-C-format CMOS sensor and DIGIC 8 image processor, high-resolution stills and UHD 4K video recording are supported, along with a wide ISO 100-25600 sensitivity range to suit working in a variety of lighting conditions. Benefitting the imaging attributes, the sensor's design also facilitates Dual Pixel CMOS AF, which uses phase-detection autofocus for quick, accurate, and smooth focusing performance when recording movies or shooting stills in live view. When shooting stills using the optical viewfinder, a 45-point all cross-type phase-detection system is used for quick and accurate focusing in a variety of shooting scenarios.

A wonderful, probably the best APSC Canon contender you can buy right now. Improved focusing systems over the 80D, better dynamic range & colors. Excellent performance all round.

Canon EOS T6i/T6s
I love this little camera, excellent optical and tracking focus (for face detection, not as well for non-facial features). Very good ISO performance, excellent buffer depth with JPEG images and most importantly, the image quality coming out of the camera is very, very good.

There are only a few negligible difference between the T6i/T6s.

Canon EOS 7D Mark II
The newest camera in Canon line up offers pro quality for sports and wildlife shooters at a moderate cost. Super fast focusing speed and good performance at high ISO's. While most will find this camera best for sports and wildlife it's very capable for all kinds of shooting.

Canon EOS 5D Mark III
This is my new LOVE. Wow. What an excellent, excellent camera. Incredible focusing systems, much improved monitor, FPS (6), low noise when shooting with higher ISO, unique video features such as an ear phone jack, excellent moire resolving, clear, sharp footage. If you have money ($3500) I cannot recommend it higher. If I have an important shoot or video project, this is my bread and butter.

Canon EOS 7D
The 7D is different and unique in that has an outstanding complement of both focusing systems and frames per second (8), which make it my top choice in this list for those of you who shoot sports or nature type photography. The 1.6x crop sensor will also give you that extra reach you need to get close. It's magnesium alloy body can take a beating. When I go on my disaster aid trips, I pair it with the Tamron 18-270 and that is all I bring camera wise.

While the 7D shoots excellent video, it's achilles is that is suffers from high ISO noise. In light of that alone, it is a GREAT all around camera, very solid for portraits too.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Having shot with the Canon EOS 5Dii now for nearly 4 years, I can honestly say I got my money's worth. Im conservatively estimating over 250,000 shots and it is still just chugging away. The full frame sensor and reasonable cost (Just over $2000 now) means this is one of the most affordable professional portrait and wedding photography cameras out there. Rich colors, reasonably low ISO noise, great video features. If you are primarily a portrait or video shooter and cannot afford the Canon 5Diii this would be a very solid choice. I am currently still using mine as my primary scuba diving dSLR.

Canon EOS 70D
As of Dec 2013, the Canon 70D is my number one recommended camera for beginning shooters. It is absolutely PACKED with features. Outstanding sports shooting & focusing systems, excellent ISO, industry best video tracking, touch-screen/flippy monitor, built in WIFi. Just wow. Canon EOS T5i
The newest rebel on the block. I hate to admit this, but I am a HUGE fan of this little camera. If you are a pure beginner, this is the camera I would recommend if you can afford it. With 9 Cross Focus types (8 more than the 5Dii), touch screen interface, articulating monitor, rich video shooting features, there is something for everyone here. Not as affordable as the Nikon D3200, but absolutely well worth it. Highly recommended. (note: I have lens recommendations for beginners in another section.)

Canon EOS T3i
A less expensive alternative to the T4i, it has the same sensor, articulating monitor, and video features. It also is the only camera with a built in video zoom feature, which I wasn't too impressed with. I really do think investing the extra money for the T4i is worth it (you get 9 cross type focusing squares, and the touch screen monitor), but if you are on a budget and want to go Canon, the T3i Rebel is an excellent choice. I'm just blown away to think this technology is available for under $600. Its a great time to be a photographer!

Canon EOS SL1
Don't let it's small size fool you. This camera packs a lot of punch. In fact, it's small size is one of it's most compelling features. Whether you're on the go or need to fit another camera body in your already packed camera bag, this entry level camera is a perfect fit. Capable of high quality stills as well as video this camera has a lot to offer. You can also use all of your EF and EF-S lenses with this camera giving you a lot full creative control.
