I am amazed at how different the clouds look with just a little time, and changing the exposure settings. Faster shutter speeds bring the sun into better detail, but makes the clouds darker. You can really make them look quite different by just a few basic adjustments. All of these pictures were taken within the same hour.
Today the clouds went from pure white, to greyish, to yellow, dark orange, and eventually bright pink. Im going to need a very, very wide angle lens (14mm perhaps- non fish-eye) to show what this is all about. I feel a new little project coming on, but I will have to keep it purely recreational for now. Too many things on my plate already.
Hi Michael,
I’ll give 2 thumbs up for the Tokina 12-24 f/4 lens. Built like a tank and gives some of the richest colors of any of my lenses. And it’s very sharp too! Used on e-bay, it’s about half the cost of the canon 10-22. I’ve even had to use it at weddings for group shots in a small area. I did learn real quick not to get anyone too close to the edge of the shot. There is some serious distortion at 12mm. lol
Mike,
Beautiful pics, love to live somewhere that wasnt always overcast!
So…one cloud looks like Alaska. Check your second picture. 🙂
