Friday and Saturday I took my Rescue Diver Certification classes and tests (did very well). I only have a couple more specialties to do and Ill have my Masters Scuba Diver Certification. I imagine that Ill eventually get my Dive Master Certification next, simply because I am here and it gets me out to enjoy nature. (I really love scuba diving).
Went with a Facebook Group here to Maliko Gulch. Didn’t see a whole lot, but I did test out my wide angle Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye in the rig, it did great.
Something I am noticing is that I think some of the critter shots look better when there is a diver in the picture with them. It can help give a quick reference on the size of the critter, for example the lobster in the first shot. In a way it just complicates everything more, because you can’t tell someone to “go swim over there and look natural”. Everything has to be communicated with hand signals or writing on a slate. Some divers can decrypt what I am trying to communicate and others just look at me like I am crazy.
One thing that I have come to realize is that in nearly every dive situation I go on, Im the only one with strobes and a nice full frame camera, which also means that Ill probably have some of the better images. I also realize that many of the divers I go with may never have had a really good portrait of them doing what they love so much, so I really do like taking pictures of them in action and giving them to the divers. Here are my favorites of the day:
Congrats on the test! You did very well. I take it you passed?
