I have mixed feelings, it was quite long (2.5 hours) and it felt like the producers/director were overly concerned with playing it safe, as if they were sticking to a proven “Pirates of the Caribbean formula” fun-for-the-whole-family kinda thing. Johnny Depp is an amazing actor, this was not his best character, pales in comparison to the color or Captain Jack Sparrow. The whole feeding the dead bird thing lost its humor after the second time, but they were back to it at least a dozen times.

If you are completely bored out of your mind over the holiday or weekend, its a nice getaway for the whole family, otherwise this is a solid rental.
