Have you ever wanted to try one of those $1,000 video editing programs like Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or Avid, but couldn’t afford it? What if I told you that you could download what Martin Scorsese’s editor uses on his films for free…and yes legally. The editing system known as Lightworks has been around for about 20 years and recently decided to release their software to the public for free. I imagine with all the competition from the other big three(Avid, Adobe, and Apple) they wanted to attract new users to the product. Although Lightworks has been used in Academy Award winning films it is not widely used. For the moment the download is for Windows computers only, but they are working on a version for Mac they hope to release by the end of the year.
