We’ve been working on this for a while and are ready to start the next stage of our brand new affiliate program. Since the beginning, many of my customers have been asking for a way to be an official Michael The Maven Training Video Affiliate, and we had one about 2 years ago, but we ran into several problems with it:
1. It was really buggy
2. We had a lot of people try to sign up who weren’t really photographers (it became spammy).
3. We didn’t do a very good job on our part to help affiliates learn how to use the links and banners in order to make money.
4. The program wasn’t linked to the download store (only the old store).
5. Didn’t have the time to focus on it to make it better.
Having finished our recent production schedule, we have gone through and worked out as many of the kinks and bugs as possible and have done several tests and we are at a point now that we are looking for a few more beta testers to work out all the kinks before we launch it for everyone else.
The way you make money as an affiliate is simple:
A. If you are approved, you Sign Up (we will send you the link). Adam will walk you through the whole process one at a time so we are all on the same page.
B. Use Provided Links and Banners in the affiliate site to promote my Michael The Maven Training Videos on your website, blog Facebook, twitter, photography forums, etc. (No Spamming however, spamming will get you kicked out of the program). (Also the affiliate program doesn’t apply to Apps).
C. If one of your friends, viewers or photography contacts purchases a video through your link or banner, you get paid a commission through Paypal.
How much commission you ask? Most affiliate programs will pay between 3-5% of sales. When we officially launch our program, it will be 10% for general approved sign-ups. (We won’t let just anyone do it, we want quality affiliates and do not want to be associated with potential spamming schemes), with the potential to earn up to 25% with certain benchmarks. (Thats huge btw).
Any beta testers who sign up and help us test/work out all the kinks will be paid a 20% commission from the start, including for any sales that occur during test. (This 20% commission doesn’t apply to shipping fees or on refunds or returns of course). They will also have the potential to make up to 25% commission once we launch. Thats $10 for every $40 sold on the site that comes through your clicks, and the best part about this is…once you have your links set up in the right places, we do the rest; including production (obviously- 😉 – the sale, delivery, customer support and payment to you. If you have good exposure and are able to get the links out there, you can make a significant monthly paycheck.
The beauty of this is, if you are a pro or semi-pro photographer, you probably have people asking you how to do certain things with their cameras, often expecting you to teach them for nothing. (it still happens to me lol). Now you can say, “Go to my blog, click Michael’s link and you see he has a video about that specific thing.” If they buy the video, you are are going to get paid for it! No more explaining to do either!
We need about 5 website/hyperlink savvy business photographers to help with the Beta Testing. You will need to have your own blog or website in order for this to work well, so we will only approve those that have a business website or blog. Anyone not accepted into the Beta Program, will be give the next opportunity to help test before we launch. Testers will be asked about: ease of use, banners, support videos and the like to make it as profitable as possible for everyone. There will even be affiliate contests for sales and banner designs.
If you are interested in becoming a Beta Tester for the new Affiliate program, leave your name, email address and website in the comment box, along with any additional info that will help us. These comments/entries will remain confidential and we will contact you directly if you are approved.
Thanks for reading this and we hope to hear from you!
Sounds like a great idea! I have a website and blog. My site is a template from bludomain, so I’m not sure if I would be able to add a banner, but I already have a link to your blog.
I have often thought in the past about approaching you to see about helping your business’s as an affiliate. I haven’t pushed my sites in the past to build readership, but rather to get my portfolio strong enough to have something worthwhile to present. I now feel ready to push for readership and have this week ordered several items of printed materials to distribute locally, have starting using my blogs ter blog again, and have set up a new Facebook business link. My website is a BluDomain template, and I am not sure if I can add advertising links, but I know I can through the blog and facebook website. Godaddy hosts my website. Would love to help you out for all the help you’ve given me over the years.
I also have FB and twitter accounts.
Michael, I will help you in anyway that I can.
Hey Michael I am very interested in this opportunity, I am just finishing my blog as I right, I love all your work and I believe in it, I have many Of your videos and learned so much from it, I already recommend them to my friends
Let me know if we can help each other
Thanks
Rafael

So I think I am probably a long shot for you on this but I’m going to give it a shot. I am semi-pro having just started marketing myself in the last two years. I have my blog up and running and am working on a web site. I’m very familiar with the web and would love to be a part of your beta testing.
Have referred 3 people in the last 2 weeks who were very serious about learning, great idea 🙂
