Here on earth we find few things more amazing, and photo worthy, than the auroras. People literally spend thousands of dollars just for a chance to experience it. This video taken by the Hubble Space Telescope takes it to a whole new level.
Yesterday as Hubble approached Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, they captured a vivid and active light show. It’s a pretty insane visual.
NASA says:
“This image is a composite of separate exposures acquired by the STIS and WFC3/UVIS instruments. Several filters were used to sample various wavelengths. The color results from assigning different hues (colors) to each monochromatic (grayscale) image associated with an individual filter. In this case, the assigned colors are:
STIS CCD blue
WFC3/UVIS F395N (395 nm) blue
WFC3/UVIS F502N (502 nm) green
WFC3/UVIS F631N (631 nm) red”
