I wanted to share this picture with you guys. Its from one of my students who only has one arm, and I couldnt figure out how in the heck she was focusing and shooting with only one hand, so I asked her to send me a picture of her in action. And we thought we had a rough time learning to shoot? Just goes to show if you want something bad enough, you will find a way, and once that way is found, its not as bad as we thought .:)
This is quite impressive if you ask me.
You would be surprised how many Brand name camera companies will modify their camera for the handicapped. Lilkiwiguy asked Nikon to modified a camera for a student who was born with congenital defect of his hands.
Amazing, and inspiring, too! You know, that really does teach an important lesson for shooting one-handed, whether you have to or not. I sometimes find I’m holding my camera with one hand, for whatever reason, and I’m holding it on the side…which often results in camera shake (the weight problem is even worse with one hand). But if you can hold it underneath, and manage to work the shutter, I would think it has much more stability. Please pass along our applause to your friend!
Wow, this is me — shooting one handed! Thanks for the kudos, Scott Roedben. Also thanks again to Michael for your wonderful site to help all of us who really want to take fabulous pictures — regardless of how we hold cameras. You can do anything you put your mind to!
We are all very proud of you Melanie! Keep it up!
