Obviously, many of you don’t like horror movies, but for those of you who do and were wondering whether or not the new Halloween 2018 was worth seeing ill say this:
I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s and saw my fair share of horror movies, many of them good, many of them ridiculous. Some of them are just classics in terms of case studies (think Fright Night (The Original) was just amazing in that it was half comedy and still half terrifying). With a few exceptions, the last 2 decades of horror movies have been more or less completely awful, relying on the overuse of special effects, and not delving into the psychological aspects that make good horror movies truly scary.
The best horror movies to me are the ones that allow you to empathize with the fear of the protagonist, and then allow you join with them in facing that fear, come what may. Its just one’s mans opinion.
With that in mind, I thought Halloween 2018 really pulled it off. If you are into scary movies, like me and enjoyed these kinds of films from the 80’s and 90’s, you’ll want to see this in theaters.
