Nikon D750
A beautiful full frame Nikon that competes strongly with the Canon 5Diii (at $1,100 less). Excellent focusing system even in low light situations. Displays superior dynamic range performance as well as clarity at high ISO’s.

Nikon D600
This is an excellent portrait camera that I take with me on many shoots. The built in flash, headphone jack, 2 card slots, and great live view focusing make it a great choice. It has a great focusing system even in low light thanks to it’s built in AF assist lamp. However, it’s performance is lacking when the lamp is turned off. The focus accuracy if servo mode for things like sports photography is excellent.
In video mode the camera has some issues with aliasing and moire but the dynamic range is good. Overall I think the camera would be a great choice for an amateur or semi-pro videographer.

Nikon D7100
I REALLY love the D7100, its focusing systems are even better than the D600’s, although they appear to be very similar body wise. The D7100 is very similar to the D600 but has an intriguing 1.3x Crop Mode for 1.5X Sensor, thereby making it a 2x factor on lenses in that mode (great for sports shooting). It comes with a max flash sync speed of 1/250 (D600 is 1/200), max shutter speed of 1/8000, and it’s about 40% more affordable. Nikon D5300
The D5300 is essentially an updated version of the D5200, both being fine cameras. The main differences are that the D5300 has its low pass filter removed, resulting in much better video, if has built in wi-fi and GPS. A very solid first camera, but I think for most people the D5200 would be just as good.
