This is actually one of the better kit lenses around. Covers a great focal range, solidly built, includes image stabilization. Max Aperture is 3.5-5.6.

If you have the chance to buy it in a kit, you will save about $200. I would however, NOT recommend buying it individually however, simply because at almost $500 you are close enough to get the BEST walk around lens of all time, the Tamron 18-270, which ranges from $500-$600 depending on what rebates are going on.

Still the 28-135 is a very, very good walk around lens. If you can find one in good condition on Ebay for $200 or less, and need a solid walk-around, this would be a good purchase.
