Every NYT front page since 1852 from Josh Begley on Vimeo.

Since the creator Josh Begley doesn’t clarify, I’m assuming this was a project simply to compile the front pages of the NYT over the years. He started with the year 1852. One of the interesting side effects of this project, as noted by PetaPixel, is the obvious rise of photography in news reporting.

The video is only 55 seconds long. In the beginning we see plain text. This is soon followed by (what appears to me to be) a few illustrations. Then you notice sparse selections of B & W photography, and suddenly – the explosion of color! Photography soon gobbles up large sections of the front page.

What a creative timelapse by Josh! Even if you don’t care for the NYT this is an interesting project.
