Absolutely gorgeous shot!!
Really cool shot M
Oh, I so badly wanted a picture of this on New Years Eve, no go due to our weather conditions though. Your shot looks absolutely incredible though 🙂
This is amazing!!
Nice Halo!!! I’ve been trying to capture one of these for the last few months. Weather really hasn’t be co-operating with me. This really looks like a movie poster. Care to share gear/settings on this one? I like how the stars aren’t washed out by the moon.
I have only seen these in pictures… What causes the Halo? Is this something that only happens in certain areas?
Love this photo!
I’m not sure what causes it. There was a big bonfire activity out here in the desert, and I noticed the halo walking back to my car. Luckily, I had all of my camera gear with me, and decided to set up and go for it. There are actually 2 exposures here, one for the foreground and one for the sky, which was run through Paintballer Pro. The are merged together in the horizon. I also did an HDR shot with this, but because the exposures were so long, the clouds were washed out and it didnt look as good.
The Halo is created by the moon light reflecting of the ice in the clouds at a specific angle witch then creates the "Halo"
there was also A partial lunar eclipse was visible on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2009. not sure if that had anything to do with it
I LOVE this shot! Brilliant
