I wanted to give you guys a little peek at how much work is involved with the DVDs. This is a quick sketch of an overlay design needed to teach a lesson on focusing with the 7D. In order to make the graphics work, every little square and tick mark has to constructed from scratch in illustrator, and then positioned in order to give an authentic viewfinder representation. Anytime something changes, (like a focus square moving) it has to be animated by hand. So when you watch a video that has 2-3 minutes of viewfinder information, it may have taken 2 weeks to put it all together. (to get the just the overlay design made, it takes about 1-2 days.) And no…I am not kidding. Its extremely tedious and time consuming.
I’m on the home stretch with the 7D DVD. All the hard work is done, and I’m just editing little things here and there. Pre-Orders should be available within the next 1-2 weeks.
Way over my head! but i’m glad you are moving right along!
Michael, I always wonder what your "To Do" list must look like. It must make lesser men shudder.
Anything worth haveing doesn’t come easy hang in there man it will be worth it all once it’s all said and done Woooo Giddy Up LOL
having done some video editing I can appreciate how much time goes into it. keep up the great work!
I respect all the hard work you put into the videos M and it shows. Is there a reason you are using illustrator for that? You can create vector objects in Flash and animate it. I think that might be a bit easier. Wouldnt you agree?
Right, the actual animation doesn’t occur in Illustrator, I just make the vector parts in Illustrator. 😉
Thank you.
