Michael just curiosity, I went to whole foods a couple of week ago with my camera and they told me I can not take pictures inside of their store. I respecfully left and I would like to know if in this case a store is considered a public space or not. What do you think?.
If its privately owned, yes they can ask you to leave, or to stay without taking pictures. They CANNOT (nor security, nor police) take your camera or CF card. If you are asked to leave and are on private property, you are required to leave. If you are asked to leave and you are on public property, say, taking pics from outside looking in, you are good. If it was me in this situation, I would respond in such a way that its beneficial to them such as: Oh I am so sorry, I was taking pictures for an article I’m writing about the incredible selection of natural food you have." When they ask who you write for tell them your internet blog. It can turn the tables, wont always work, but it has sometimes for me. If they persist, then it’s time to write a different article and you will just take pics from the street. Hope this helps!
