The Canon 60D comes with a first of it’s kind mode lock dial. The way it works is there is a center button that you have to push down in order to rotate the mode dial. To be honest, I am not a fan, but I know there are several sports and nature photographers who would absolutely love this feature.
Canon is now offering services that will allow you to send in your 5Dii or 7D and have this mechanism installed for about $100. My understanding is that the services are now available.
Canon Mode Dial Locking Mechanism Upgrade
Interesting. My EOS 10s has a center button youi have to push to turn the dial when in the locked/off position. I always found it a pain to have to turn on the camera that way.
