EF 8-15mm f/4L FisheyeSee list of lenses below the video.
A couple side notes because of so many questions I am getting about this:
1. Many of these lenses have been confirmed in our FB group: Michael’s Canon 90D FB Group
2. If a lens isn’t on this list, I strongly recommend searching our facebook group for the name of the list to see examples: Michael’s Canon 90D Facebook Users Group
3. The general rule of thumb is that if it is both an older lens and a zoom lens, it might have issues. Older lenses mean the design of the lens is greater than 10 years. Most newer zooms and primes seem to do better generally but there are some exceptions.
The Canon 90D Sensor (and M6II) have a pixel pitch of about 3.2 microns, which means lenses used will likely need to have better resolving power than the list Canon Recommended for the 5Ds and 5DSR:
Canon’s Lens Recommendations For the 5DS and 5DSR. I have added a couple to this list that should have enough:
Confirmed = Multiple Users have demonstrated with images on our FB group
Unconfirmed = Verbal Only from different sources
50/50- Some good, some bad examples from the FB group, might come down to the copy you have or how stopped down your aperture is.
Italics = Likely /Likely Not (Depending on list) based on MTF Charts

Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 for Canon EF(Confirmed)
Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens for Canon EF– We have seen both good and bad examples of it. Might come down to lens copy / if it is micro adjusted.
Sigma 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports Lens for Canon EF– Ive only seen a few examples from this lens. One of the images was not good, the other was acceptable. Not enough data to say for sure either way. Super zooms tend to struggle more with very tight pixel density.

Feel free to leave links in the comments that demonstrate good or bad samples and I will add them
I will add I got good results from Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM Fixed Lens on a tripod. Haven’t hand held it yet.
Any info on the Tamron 18-400? Many thanks for your work!
The Canon 600mm mk3 is a definite for the 90D
What about the Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM?
What about Sigma 150-600 COntemporary Lens. I am planning to replace my current Canon 750D with either 80D or 90D. Which one will give sharper images with Sigma 150-600?
Canon 50mm 1.8 stm is great
Canon efs 18-55 & 55-250 looks good
Tokina 11-20 f2.8 is a massive fail
Canon efs 10-22 is decent
Tamron 24-70 f2.8had 2 lenses and 1 was good other I think was just a bad lens that froze up several times and over 1300 pictures were crap
Canon ef 75-300 was too soft
Canon 70-200 f2.8 is II was good
Many many thanks for this list.
Some questions:
1) The ones that are not commented are working as expected or are the recommended ones from canon?
2) what about the "holy trinity’s" EF 16-35mm f/2.8 III USM ? I would expect that to work 🙁
3)
Canon 18-135 2.3-5.6 (Confirmed) – Good, Not Stellar
???
Do you mean the
EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM ? (the base kit of 90d one)
thank you a lot! Keep up the amazing work!
Canon EF-s 15-85 seems to work pretty well and the best of the EF-s zooms. The Sigma 17-50 is good in the center, but fuzzy edges so fine for some work and not other.
I am using 600MM f4 ii and 2*TC III, not sure if this will work for 90D.
Tamron 18 -270 does anyone have any experience
I have the latest 18-135mm and also the 15-85. I hope the 18-135 is a good fit, since they offer this with the camera.
Any info about the canon ef-s 17-55 f2.8 ?
What about 300mm f4 lens and its resolving power because it’s not mentioned so. Does it work good with 90d.
Thanks from India

On you blog you wrote "- Tamron 18-400 (*We have seen both good and bad images with it, seems like a good copy will work) ".
What does "Good copy" mean? Thank you.
I have used Sigma C 150-600 with good success with the 90D, no microfocus adjustments. View photos: https://ebird.org/qc/checklist/S63556499
Click on images for larger view. All photos taken with the Sigma, except the American Tree sparrow (Canon 100-400 II), and somewhat cropped. The IS is not very efficient with this lens. Sigma lens is sharp but the weaker IS requires high shutter speed for handholding.
Michael, just thought would note have viewed this.
Really Canon should have informed purchasers of potential lens issues. Will view balance of your videos/blogs in next few days.

Any comment on the Sigma 60-600mm with the Canon 90D?
Anything on the Sigma 60-600mm and resolving for the Canon 90D? You have the Sigma 150-600mm But, no mention of the 60-600mm.
You can add the Canon 300mm 2.8 first generation to the 90D compatible list. I just got one in very nice condition. And can report that the focus is tack sharp. AF is fast and accurate. Using it with a X2 II Extender also. 25 year old technology in the 90D. No IS but with a 2.8 I can use a higher shutter speed.
Any info on the 300mm f4? I’m assuming similar to the 400mm 5.6? I have the 400 and don’t know whether or not to upgrade lenses when I upgrade bodies or just switch systems all together.
are there macro lenses for this list?
mccallum1367@gmail.com I have the ef24-70f2.8 L version 1 with the 90d and it seems to be working just fine. Is I had known this information about incompatibility with some lenses I would have likely bought something else
I’m surprised not to see the EF 85mm F/1.4L or the 16-35mm F/2.8L III mentioned. I have to imagine both are amazing on the 90D. I wonder about the EF 16-35mm F/2.8 II though . . .
I’d sure like to see the shorter list with only stellar and confirmed results. I mistakenly thought the 90D would run my 24-105 f4 L IS USM, but now I see I need new glass. Thanks for the detailed information.
Updates: the Tokina 11-22 f2.8 I tried had the worst CA I’ve ever seen but it must have been damaged in shipping somehow, Tamron 10-24 Di II VC HLD (B023) was soft and dim, New canon 11-24 f4 L is very impressive.
Anyone – I’ve found the 18-55 f4-5.6 IS STM (i.e. the latest version) to be sharper than the latest two versions of Canon’s 18-135mm lenses, when used on my 77D. Has anyone tried the latest 18-55 on the 90D to say whether it can ‘cut it’?
How old is "older" in general? My lenses are all ten years old or less, is that old enough to be "older"?
I bought the Sigma 60-600mm f4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM and over 2,500 pictures later. It’s a fantastic lens on my Canon 90D. Pics at 60mm through 185mm right up to 600mm.All fantastic!
The Sigma 50-150mm 1:2.8 APO DC HSM Is very poor. Can not get any sort of crisp focus.
I wish to know the compatibility of sigma 18-300mm to 90D? Has anyone tried?
I’ve seen some ok photos taken with the Canon EF 24-105 f/4 v1 that are good anyway, but I switched to the Sigma art 18-35 F/1.8 which is stunning.
I also like the Sigma contemporary 150-600 f/4.5-6.3, though the teleconverter 1.4 takes away some of the sharpness,
Good results also with the Tokina AT-X 14-20 mm f/2.0 which is a stunning lens anyway,
Bottom line: the EOS 90D is a stunninc camera, too bad some of Canon’s more expensive lenses like the 70-200 F/4 v1 IS do not have what it takes,
Still a phantastic lens on my 20..3 Mp EOS 70D however…
Canon 28-135mm 3.5-5.6 IS USM seems to be able to resolve on my 90D. It came on my 40D that I bought in 2009. Still works great. My go to for most photos. Will post a picture in the FB group.
Is the Tamron AF 70 – 300mm compatible?
Getting mostly good results with my Tamron 100-400 lens especially in good light. Needed some microadjusting for front focusing.
Has anyone seen a response from Canon regarding this issue? Wouldn’t it be nice of the manufacturer, who holds the IP to provide a resolution and or method.

canon EF 70-200 f/2.8 non-IS has no issues, sharp across the image, with no soft focus
Hi, Has anyone tried the Sigma 24-105 f4 Art? Considering between this and the canon 24-135 L f4 II, which costs more and seems to get quite mixed reviews. Thanks!
after looking at this list, what is considered a “GOOD’ lens for Canon 90D.
