Man, this is heartbreaking. Got my Canon 70D yesterday, been looking at it and playing with it all afternoon, into this evening, doing various tests, then I download my images, look at them and lo and behold….DEAD PIXELS!! A whole freaking row of them. (See Red Arrow)
Its not the monitor either, it is on the sensor! I see it in live view as well. While my initial test results are very encouraging for ISO performance (above image is 1/60, f9.0, ISO 12800 – very clean), dead pixels DOA is very VERY disappointing! Ill have to call Canon tomorrow.
The good news is Canon seems to be excellent with their warranty program. I was recentlty traveling in Spain where I was taking pictures in the rain without properly protecting my camera – T4i, needless to say the camera failed. When I got back to Canada I sent it for repair. They replaced two circuit boards…..at no charge!!! I could not be happier.
Would love to hear what Canon has to say and if there is a recall.
Steven
I have a dot in each frame. Cant tell if it is a damaged sensor or not. I’ll send you a pic if you like. Daytime or night time, same problem.
