Great review Michael 🙂 I’ve found some of my favorite lenses are prime. I love the larger apertures for creating dof manipulation along with the fact you’re moving about to take the photo as opposed to just being stationary. I don’t know why that aspect is appealing to me but it just is 🙂 Thanks for the review.
Michael – thanks for the post. Any consideration to the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens? I’m getting married in a few months and just bought a house, so I’m clearly on a budget. I know it’s not nearly as good as the lens in this video, but for the price, I’m not sure you can go wrong. Thanks.

Thanks Michael this is one lens I wish I could afford. I have the Sigma 30 mm f/1.4 and for $400 it is a nice option to the Canon 35. But your dead on thge Canon 35 mm f/1.4 is such a great lens. If it wan’t so darn expensive!!! SInce i sold my Canon 70-200 f/2.8 is and upgraded to the new version this year it is doubtful my wife is going to let me upgrade my Sigma 30 to the Canon L Oh well. Great review.
Nice review Michael, as you suggested my next lens should be the 50 1.2L, now having the 7D, would it make more sense to first get this lens instead and have it behave closer to a 50 with the crop factor? and maybe get the 50 later on once I have a full frame? Or should I get the 50 first?
You really did a good job doing the review of the Canon EF 35mm f1.4 L Prime Lens. You were able to show that it is really a good Photogra Lens.
