Looks like the next DVD will be Photography Lighting Crash Course. Ive already scoped out several topics.
What would you like to learn about on the Photography Lighting DVD? External Flashes? Studio Lighting? Any reasonable topic will be considered for the DVD.
🙂
Personally, I’d love to see something that teaches you how to use flash and whatever available light properly in all different settings (outdoors, portrait, studio, etc.). I have a Speedlite 430EX II and to be honest, I’m not really sure how to best utilize it.
I’d like to see something about flash rings. Also, with studio lighting since there are so many types of softboxes, umbrellas and reflectors–at minimum what would be good for a basic studio and what is needed to go from beginner to intermediate to advanced.
I just purchased the Canon Speedlite 580EX II and I’m a bit intimidated. I’d like to see something about proper use of this flash.
I would like to see something on flash and constant lighting. Not just for the professional quality lights but for the beginning home enthusiast that only has access to normal everyday items such as household lamps and workshop lights.
I am struggling with the shadows that I get with using my 580 EXII indoors with a diffuser and even a flash bracket. I aim the flash at angle upward and while the subjects are nicely lit, the shadow effect behind them always shows up. HELP!!!
Thanks!
430ex and more affordable flashes (more affordable than the 580), studio lighting setups (how many lights, what brightness, what direction…), artistic lighting effects
great input everyone, feel free to add if you like. All lighting suggestions will be considered.
how about natural light… like using it as a source of lighting your subject, and also capturing it in a photograph (sunsets, for example? windows? etc…) And I also like the idea of flashes/ext lighting for the home enthusiast who does not have tons of gear… like your suggestion would be for the top three things to invest in (as far as lighting is concerned)
And could you include Nikon flashes also? And basic studio flash equipment beginners would need to purchase?
1. I’d like to learn about how changing the color of the backdrop affects the lighting situation in the studio. For example, if I have a white backdrop, what kind of lighting would I use? How would the lighting be different with a dark or black backdrop?
2. In the studio, would the lighting setup be different if you are shooting a large family vs. 1-2 people?
3. I’d love to hear what you have to say about posing people- Couples, children, large families.
4.Also, when to use softboxes, umbrellas, etc. Thanks!
I would like to see how to use the flash for things other than Portraits (people) EX: dark alleys, Inside old buildings, etc…
Also shadow management (just made that up, you know what I mean though right?)
When and when not to use a diffuser.
How to bounce light properly to acheive intentional shadows.
How about proper use of the Speedlight 580 EX II, paired with the Canon 50D. When / When not to use flash, modes in flash, where is best to point flash, when to increase or decrease flash compensation…..
I’m in the 430 EX camp. Anything advice or education on using this flash with the Canon Xsi
