We had a shark attack not too far from Big Beach this last week. A German woman unfortunately had her arm bitten off and was very lucky to survive. The only reason she did was because a Physical Ed teacher heard her screams and jumped in the water to rescue her. Can you imagine that? Swimming out to help someone who was bleeding out, knowing there was a shark in the water? Tremendous courage, the guy was not a life guard either, just someone out on the beach.
Big Beach is usually packed on the weekends, there were maybe 5-6 people actually in the water. We have been having a lot of shark attacks recently and I am starting to wonder if there is a rogue Tiger Shark out there that has developed a habit of taking hello bites on humans.
