While editors are priceless to people within the industry, they are probably the least publicly acknowledged and most crucial people behind highly successful movies. If they can find a great one, a lot of directors choose to work with the same editor over and over again, because that's how important they are. Bad editing can absolutely ruin the mood, tone, and flow of a movie. Great editing can do the exact opposite.
