Photo of a Potato Sells for a Cool Million Dollars
While visiting photographer Kevin Abosch's apartment a collector expressed his desire to own the below photo. The price for parting with one of his favorite images would be $1 million. Astonishingly, the collector paid up making it one of the most expensive photos ever sold.
The image is very interesting. Its nondescript organic shape and texture leaves the piece open to interpretation. For example, if I didn't know it was such an ordinary object as a potato, I might mistake it for some sort of extraterrestrial object.
Kevin is well known for his very expensive portraits of movers and shakers in Silicon Valley (up to $500,000). Kevin is a classic example of charging what you feel you're worth. His portraits have become somewhat of a status symbol amongst some of the wealthiest people in society. It's working for him.
