A Most Violent Year
Another quiet release which has gotten very positive reviews, I decided to check it out. Unless you have a deep appreciation for the film-making process, I think it will be hard to enjoy. The acting, cinematography, direction are all top notch and it has potential to be a staple of film making schools.
Spoiler: The movie is about each characters pursuit of the American dream, and the duality of their human nature to achieve it. Each of the characters bounces back and forth between chasing success the right way as well as the wrong and reveal that they are not quite who we assume them to be, yet for the most part they keep it under control.
