LearningDLSRVideo.com's Dave Dugdale Interviews Michael
Dave Dugdale of Learning DSLR Video and I have been emailing back and forth now for several years and last week he visited Maui so we thought it would be fun to finally meet up and talk and possibly even shoot an interview. It was shot at one of my favorite restaurants here in Kihei called Oceans and wow…I thought it came out GREAT, beautiful background and lighting. I was worried about the sound of cars and wind, but it wasn't an issue at all. I recommended the fresh coconut crusted Mahi Mahi (my favorite) and it was Ono (delicious)!
Dave uses the Tamron 24-70 2.8 and he made an excellent point as to why he prefers that over the Canon versions; it has image stabilization AND is $600 cheaper than Canon's version II. He also mentioned that while he likes the Go Pro Hero 3, he has been having some issues with how it powers on and off which might be related to the firmware. He convinced me to get one, so Im going to try figure out what is going on with it (if I have the same issues).
Dave has a Canon T4i DSLR Course but instead of focusing on photography, it's emphasis is on the video shooting. It is just loaded with important video tips for T4i shooters, he really gets into the nitty gritty and it runs about 3.5 hours. Whenever someone asks me for more detailed training on video, he is the one I recommend. As he mentions in the interview, he also has a Canon T3i DSLR Video course in the works.
Dave totally nice, friendly guy and I have a feeling we will be in contact more. I really appreciate him taking the time from his family vacation to meet up with me for lunch.
