David Doubilet - Underwater Jedi Master Photographer
Chances are you have already seen some of his work, as he is world renown and has shot for National Geographic for some time. I was formally introduced to David's work through Paul Broman on my first trip to Burma last year. David has an absolute incredible photography book out called "Water Light Time". This is an absolute must have & read for any serious photographer, even if you are not interested in doing underwater work yourself. Having shot for a few months and realizing how hard underwater photography is, David's work is nothing short of astonishing. To do what he has done over and over through the pages of this book is a testament to his technical and artistic skill.
I am a very, very big believer of looking at and studying photographic work that is better than my own, because it inspires me and gives me something to shoot for.
David also writes in a very familiar, friendly tone and you will find his commentary as engaging as his images.
Im hesitant to post too many pictures of David's work but instead invite you to visit his website as well as these articles about him:
