I wanted to let you all know about a great website that just went live a few days ago. The project is the brainchild of a good friend of mine, and I think it is a fantastic idea. Its a free feedback website for mechanics and garages.
The problem with mechanics is that YES, there are several out there which are dishonest. Unfortunately, the law says that once they've done the work you have to pay them. I think everyone I know at one point in their life has been taken to the cleaner by the mechanic. There is no way to control, or punish garages for sloppy, unprofessional or overpriced work. If a mechanic is taking advantage of their customers, there should be a check/balance to this. On the other hand, how often have you wished to know who the best mechanic in town is? Or perhaps the nearest one in the event you have a break down on a road trip? This web site will do all these things for you.
If you have had an experience you would like to share with Gomerknows.com, do it! I did and dang it felt good! (Ok- one positive, one negative). I know it will really help the website as its in its infant stages and the services it offers justifies taking the time to do it. Right now it's success depends on the number of feedback ratings it gets in the next few months from customers. If it gets big enough, good mechanics will be rewarded with better reputations and bad ones will suffer the consequences of negative feedbacks online.
PS- If you are a blogger- post a blog about it and let everyone know!
