MA Great American Photo Safari Completed – Various Updates
On September 8th, 2009 I finished the very last workshop for the Great American Photo Safari in Phoenix, Az. The entire trip was such an amazing experience and I wanted to say thank you to EVERYONE involved- a special thank you goes to the hosts- you guys were absolutely amazing. It would not have been possible without you. There are so many of you out there who encouraged and supported me in such a way that it gave me the energy I needed to get through it We had close to 100 attendees and it was so important for me to be able to meet with everyone face to face. Im still in recovery mode, getting settled in Mesa for a good 1-2 month production run.
While we were able to complete the workshops successfully, there were several aspects I fell short on. One of the things I have learned from my trip is the importance of involving others, listening to their ideas and being open to sharing creative input.. Many of you helped with logistics, food, supply runs, planning, finding locations, marketing, inviting others to attend, etc. I’ve learned that I personally have a tendency to want to put a lot of the weight on my own shoulders and when I do burn-out is inevitable.
Looking back on it now, I think “getting into a car, by myself, and driving all over the country for 4 months is absolutely CRAZY!!” lol – on the other hand, I am still very, very glad I had this opportunity, but my point is- we have a ton of extremely talented, smart photographers who follow my blog and forum- and my failures/lessons learned have sparked an absolutely amazing idea I will be sharing with you shortly. It is as equally as crazy as the road trip, BUT instead of relying on myself, Ill be asking for your help and participation.
I’m still in recovery mode and I know many of you are anxious to see what’s coming.
