Many of you will recognize this young lady on my DVDs. She is the daughter of one of my best friends, Warren, and I have been shooting her since she was a baby. I'm visiting them for a few days, and tonight was the local church halloween night. She is supposed to be a scare crow, I know....so such a scary scare-crow!
I couldn't but help notice the very bright yellow and orange trees nearby, how they matched her outfit and how neat it would be to get in them in the background.
As beginners, yes, you are worried about your camera, your settings and your subject, but remember that in the frame of the camera, literally everything surrounding your subject will make or break your image.
Your background selection is as important as you subject matter itself, in relationship to what intended goal is.
In this case, I wanted to draw attention to Brookie, make the background fade, but still pop and accent her costume. I was very happy with the results.
