The reason I don't do this for RAW files is because RAW processing isn't going to be the same for everyone, it also changes from subject to subject (the amount of noise you actually see) and many shooters don't use RAW at all, so yes, you definitely can squeeze more out with RAW files, but this is a simple way for me to keep somewhat of a base standard from camera to camera:
