Stephen Wilkes is a professional commercial and fine art photographer. He's been working in the industry for more than two decades. His latest fine art project is called "Day to Night". It's a series of sweeping cityscapes showing various world famous locations or events drift from daytime to nighttime in a single image.
After spending up to 15 hours perched atop a crane 50 feet in the air, and capturing over 1,000 images, they are combined into a single seamless collage using roughly 50 carefully selected images. The entire process is extremely detail oriented. The slightest movement of the camera or gust of wind can ruin the entire project. Also, choosing the 50 best images to compliment the final composition can be exhaustive.
