If you havent heard of these new trucks by now you will soon, the are called “Cougars” and “Buffalos” and are being deployed to Iraq. Get this…they are IED proof (an IED is an Improvised Explosive Device, basically a road side bomb which has been killing more of our troops than anything else). If I understand the reports correctly, there have been over 1000 IED attacks on Cougars without a single death. One incident included over 100lbs of explosives and the marines walked away. The reason they are so resilient is due to the shape of their undercarriage, which is V shaped instead of flat like the Hummvees. The V shape deflects the explosion away from the truck.
