Canon Rumors today reported potential specs on an upcoming replacement for the Canon 7D, aka the
Canon 7Dii - CLICK HERE FOR ARTICLE. The rumor is listed as CR2, which means it is coming from a reliable source. CR3 means it is no longer a rumor. Looks impressive!
Rumored Specifications:
- 24.1mp APS-C Sensor
- Dual DIGIC V
- 10fps
- Dual Memory Card Slots (Unknown configuration)
- 61 AF Points (I wonder if we’ll get red focus points in AIS?)
- 3.2″ LCD
- Build quality like 5D3
- GPS & Wifi
- $2199 ($500 more than the 7D at launch, I’d like to see such a camera come in under $2000)
- ISO Performance to get close to the 5D3
- “Lots of video features”
My main comments on this are that I wonder about the sensor size. It "sounds" like this will not be full frame, which is a good thing. For years, my main 2 cameras were the
Canon 5DII & the
Canon 7D , I do like having the 1.6x Crop on the 7D for that extra reach. The major drawback with the 7D is it's ISO noise really starts to struggle once you get over 800-1200 ISO. If Canon can clean this up, it sounds like a really great camera.
Canon Rumors is also listing the
Predicted Canon Cameras Coming in 2013 including the new Rebel, 70D, 7Dii, a new mirrorless camera (Me) and possibly another DSLR. Lots of great stuff coming.
