I absolutely cannot stand junk mail or telemarketing phone calls. While my number is listed with the national “Do Not Call” directory, I haven’t found a good way to stop all the junk mail. In the past, I have stamped junk mail with “Return To Sender” and have gotten mixed results.

The main problem is, when companies start sharing your information. Once it’s been shared just a few times, it can rapidly multiply into dozens, if not hundreds of different databases. I think junk mail and sharing of customer’s personal information is barely within the limitations of being legal.

Paper Karma is a pretty amazing little App (Available on both Android and iPhone devices) and unless you LOVE getting junk mail, I would highly recommend downloading it right away and start using it.

The way it works is simple: Register the address to which you receive junk mail, and take a picture of your junk mail when it comes in the mail. Paper Karma has a system set up with a massive company database, they identify the sender and directly request they stop sending you mail.

Several of my requests have already been identified and submitted, and I am soon hoping for a day when I never, ever, receive junk mail again. I do not know of any other company or service that even attempts to do this in such a convenient way.

PS- Right now…its FREE!
