The Darkest Hour had the potential to be a home run blockbuster. The first 4/5’s of the movie was intriguing, gritty, exciting and almost felt like a horror movie. It had vibes of Predator, Red Dawn, Independence Day and I Am Legend all wrapped into one. I loved the whole studying and adapting according to your enemy lesson taught. Its also refreshing to see a story so uncommitted to each of the main characters (cant really say more without giving it away).

The problem was that the ending fizzled- with a stronger finale it would have been a very, very good movie. Instead it felt like they ran out of money or something and the acting/lines got really weak & cheesy. If you see it you will see what I mean.

An absolute rental and solid choice in theaters if you enjoy any of the movies mentioned above.
