Made it to Maui safe last night. Being that it was going to take my car over a month to get here on the ship, I figured the next best thing would be to rent a car, expensive, but I really didn’t have any other options. So I get in last night, and there were all kinds of red flags from a new particular rental car company on the island “Advantage”. I didn’t actually rent with them, so I cannot say anything about their service, but something didnt feel right. I just had my Dad pick me up and we decided to come back in the morning.

On the way over, I tried at least 3 different websites, Priceline, Hotwire, Travelocity, etc. They all seemed to have technical glitches where I couldn’t actually get a reservation though. I saw Priceline had an App, so I decided to try it.

It worked GREAT! I literally booked my reservation and 10 minutes later walked into their Airport location and picked the car up. The best part about it? I got to bid on the car right there from my iPhone. The original rental was going to be about $600 for 2 weeks, the new Priceline Bid had me at $18 a day, plus taxes, to bring me to about $345 for the 2 weeks. I just saved about $250 and will probably save another $250 when I do this again in 2 weeks. I imagine it will also work for flights, hotels, etc, all on the go, all on your iphone. I know there are some people out there that don’t like iPhones or all the Apps, but man…if it’s saving you that kind of money even once or twice a year, you have to look at it. I am guessing there is an Android version too or will be soon?
